I had my emptool freeze (actually, it seems is was empeg side that was freezing) intermintently over Ether, after half a CD worth of music or so, with 1.01B2 (I was trying to fix a DHCP problem with it). With 1.0 syncs are OK (but I usually transfer CD by CD). Syncs over serial don't work at all (but terminal does, so, with working Ether I don't care). I am using an ancient IBM ThinkPad 380ED with RH5.2 and Xircom PCMCIA 10Base-T adapter. (On WinNT both serial and Ether work.)

Have you tried to downgrade to 1.0?
