Unfortunately it did not work and due to sonicblues bankruptcy i never got it repaired under warranty.
Too bad you never actually tried making a warranty claim during that year. They were warranty-servicing players even when SonicBlue went under. Now you're SOL because the one-year warranty has expired.

Did you just read about SonicBlue going under and then assume it meant they wouldn't honor the warranty? Too bad...

In any case, the odds are good that you just need to re-crimp the cable as pictured in the FAQ. Not a big deal at all. Make sure to read the Drive Upgrade guide for dismantling instructions or you'll rip apart the connector because you didn't see it was glued from beneath.

Also, once you get the hard disk working, make sure to put the version 2.0 final software on the player and get emplode 2.0 final. Again, software development is something that kept going even though SonicBlue went under. Just because a company goes out of business doesn't necessarily mean the products are left high and dry. At least not in this case.
