Plan B: Make a loop in your cord, where you want the crocodile clip, feed it through the hole on the crocodile clip, feed the plug and headphones through the loop and pull tight to form a knot*, take a rubber band in the right hand, coil the excess cable round your 1st, 2nd & 3rd fingers, secure excess cable with rubber band.
*for the perfectionist, put a grommet in the hole on the crocodile clip to avoid chafing.
