I always use Optimax, and sometimes use an octane booster and it makes an amazing amount of difference in my car. After trying it in my wife's not-so-sporty Fiat Punto, we still noticed an improvement in response, and apparently it will increase engine life too.

Only worthwhile if you need zippiness, though
