DIGNAN, I know that you want a small device, but for my digital camera and camcorder needs, I actually bought a Apple 12" Powerbook. It's small, pretty rugged, and does everything that you mentioned via the iLife tools.

And, if you are on a long vacation, just burn the stuff to CD or DVD (depending on model).

It's definitely a companion for my travel plans now, wouldn't be without it, and it means that we can review the photo's each night on a decent screen.
