Something to keep in mind... These companies have been known to change the internal bits of their network products without changing the model number on the outside of the box. Whether through firmware changes, minor revisions in hardware or chips, or even completely different versions of chips. And a tiny thing like a timing problem when doing 10/100 negotiation could cause the ethernet connection to fail with certain devices...
