There was a news story this morning that Apple has struck a deal with Ford, GM, and Mazda, to make an ipod interface standard on all their cars.
(Starting in 2007? Not sure.)

Supposedly, this will create a "standard" on about 70% of all automobiles.

I don't know what the quality of this interface will be.
I don't have very high expectations.

And I'm sure Apple will do their level best to make sure it isn't opened up to 3rd party people. But, of course, they won't succeed at blocking them.

Perhaps someone else can post more detailed links if they find them and we can determine if this is a "real story" or not.
