I'm told the Hewlett-Packard ones integrate the nozzle with the ink cartridge so that it gets replaced with each ink replacement (but also making the cartridges painfully expensive).
The Lexmark ones do this as well. My problem was that one third of the nozzles on the cartridge were clogged, and I managed to exhaust the other inks by repeatedly running the test page.
The branded Lexmark cartridges aren't painfully expensive, but neither are they cheap. It's about £20 for the black cartridge, and about £25 for the CMY cartridge.
Of course, when you think about it, a pair of cartridges is half the cost of a new printer.
I don't mind so much: it's a nice printer -- does good edge-to-edge printing on glossy paper, so it's good for the occasional photo. It takes too long to print more than the occasional photo, though.
