Right, that's what I meant in my first reply. Cameras have an external mic input, you'd run a pair of outputs from the sound board directly into those.
There's a whole other class of technical informaiton to go with that, of course... type of outputs, impedance matching, the correct adapter bits, etc., but one would hope that the sound guy is knowledgable enough in that area to help.
