CF is largely just an ATA device on a slightly different connector. The standard was developed from the PCMCIA ATA devices that existed ages ago, and somewhat still do with the rebirth of the 1.8 inch hard drives. Only limits will be similar ones to IDE hard drives in desktops, thus the 2 gig barrier of FAT 16, then possibly an 8 gig issue, then a 30ish gig, then a 127gb limit.

Unlike Sony and their idiotic decision to limit the first memory stick somewhere around 256mb I believe.
