I have a workaround for this :
- install inetd
- configure telnetd and rshd
- add an entry for root in the passwd file with homedir /root
- create a file /root/.rhosts with the ip of yout home PC

Now you can do a rsh commmand to mount the rootfs rw :

# rsh empeg rw
# rlogin empeg

or without mounting rw :

# rsh empeg /usr/X11R6/bin/xterm -display `echo $DISPLAY`
