Higher rated DDR ram will likely work in your machine (PC2700, PC3200), but you wont see any improvement in your system performance (unless you are into overclocking, and being you have a Dell I'm guessing not). Being the higher rated ram is usually more expensive you are better off just getting the PC2100.

Crucial isnt a bad place to order RAM, btw. Ive had a few sticks in various machines that have lasted me a long, long time with no problems.
