I killed one Microdrive, specifically by dropping my old camera. Solid state cards are cheap enough that it's hard to justify the Microdrives any more. Right now, I've got two 1GB CF cards. The only time that those weren't enough, in a single day, was when I was the "official" photographer at a friend's wedding. I made it through most of the day's activities before running out, and then I had to spend 30 minutes with my laptop emptying out the cards.
