I remember the car having a skid plate when I was working on it from up top. A couple screws dropped between it and the drivetrain. When it was being pulled onto the flatbed, I didn't see one. Hopefully it flew off at some point and my mechanic didn't just neglect to put it back on after the last service.

The entire truck went into it. It was filled with water on a rainy day, so it wasn't very easy to see. I wouldn't expect the depth to have been what it was anyway. I hit it hard... real hard.

Jersey City is a total shithole and the entire state of NJ isn't much better. This is the 2nd time a car of mine has been disabled by poor Jersey City road maintenance. Here's a map to illustrate how far I live from Jersey City. For something like this to have happened to me twice in that town is crazy. No, I don't work anywhere near Jersey City either.
