Fire up those HD Tivos!

From Aint it Cool:

While we wait for our favorite series (or at least the ones shot on 35mm – sorry, “Jeffersons” and “Barney Miller” fans!) to be issued in 1080p, Tvweek.com reveals that every episode of Joss Whedon’s “Firefly” is being remastered to 1080i and will start broadcasting on the Universal HD channel starting Sept. 24.
There is a tiny bit of symmetry to this, since “Firefly’s” big-screen sequel, “Serenity” was the first-ever movie to be issued in HD-DVD.

This was mainly part of a rumor that Firefly is coming to HD-DVD. That would be cruel. Very cruel. I would have to buy an HD-DVD player even though I know it'll be obsolete in no time (I think Blu-ray will too, though).

Who gets the Universal HD channel? Is it on DirecTV?
