Orbit's a big place to be looking for something that's probably no bigger than a fridge. Particularly when it's around a completely different planet. One where we don't have radar stations looking up into the sky.

Basically, the only way we knew where it was before was because it was telling us. Now the radio's broken, it could carry on going round for thousands of years, and we'll probably never find it. Until we move to Mars and put up those radar stations.
