smartctl should be named
smartctl, not smartctl
.bin. Ditto for
hdparm.
The
.bin is there on the original files simply so that they don't get mangled when downloading on non-Linux systems, and to make it obvious that they are supposed to be
binary (not text) files to browsers and the like.
I generally rely upon the receiving
gray matter to rename them properly.
So folks, get rid of the
.bin parts of the filenames when installing them. And ignore the corrupted script from that last posting by Boelle.
