Oh, man. The New York theater scene in the 70s? Mountains of cookies as far as the eye could see; you could hook up with anyone after hours at Mr. Hooper's; morals were freer: Bert and Ernie didn't have to hide their relationship; and it was two new letters and a number every week, and an endless stream of kids that just couldn't stay off the Street.
But times have changed. Fun turned into addiction. Monster has cut down a lot, but he still can't ditch that habit. Bird started seeing things, then everyone else started seeing them too; those flashbacks are still happening. Hooper got convicted of tax evasion and his place closed down. Rumor has it that he was put in witness protection after turning state's evidence. Other people moved on, too. I hear Olivia got a job as a building superintendent somewhere downtown. Some other exits were ruined. Grover could have had a cushy political post, but he kept alienating his contact, who turned out to have some bigshot position.
I could go on, but the spirit these days just isn't the same. There are new cool kids in town, but they just don't have the same flair as we did in those heady days in the 70s.
