Could I get some suggestions from you guys for equipment?

Scenario: a 4-5 story building with nothing but apartments for students, about 50 residents in total. Unfortunately, I can't give you any sort of network diagram (as I haven't been given one), so I don't know if there will/should be smaller switches on each floor, though I've been informed that there will be wireless hotspots.

That said, do you guys have any suggestions for decent switches that come with somewhere between 12 and 60 ports, and a router and/or firewall that can support these users. At the moment we're looking at a 100Mbps incoming connection as a possible internet option.

Thanks for the help. I unfortunately have little experience in this level of networking, though I'd like to learn more. I've asked for similar suggestions in previous threads, but I wasn't sure if anything had changed. I also know that someone just asked about switches, but I didn't know if the use case matched up. We don't need super high-end equipment, but we want more than a $150 Netgear 24-port switch I can pick up at the local computer store.
