Actually, Rob said the maximum height was 14 mm. Below is his post responding to a similar question some time ago...

The width and length should be totally standard, but the height varies from model to model. The highest drive you can fit is 14mm. To put this in perspective, the 10Gb Toshiba drives that we fit are 12.5mm high and the 25Gb IBM TravelStar drives are 17.5mm (too big for many laptops as well as the empeg).

This would suggest that a 12.7mm IBM drive would, indeed, fit.
