Actually, all the static is generated in real time (of course!!!)
And the image is manipulated in real-time.

The cleverness comes in the mixing of the static and deformation of the image.

As Hugo correctly points out this visual was written as a power on sequence for the empeg. It was never used because it would be pretty tricky to implement a smooth animation at this stage of player starup.

It would be pretty boring to release as a standalone visual.
