The acquired experience of empeg owners over the years, suggested STRONGLY that any single drive larger than about 128GB was troublesome in several ways.

Eg. The empeg player would run out of RAM trying to manage the filesystem metasdata, the AUX partition on the drive for the current running order etc. would also be too small for some things.

You can try and search these forums for specific success and horror stories and decide for yourself. But with fewer of us around now to help with stuff, and with memories of details/solutions fading, it will be more difficult to get things working reliably than in the past.

It could well be that the issues with larger drives may be somewhat mitigated by the zero seek-times of SSDs (eg. CF cards), and that some things may be more feasible than before.

I don't know much about that. My fuzzy grey cells simply remind me never to go beyond 128GB/drive if things are to be kept simple.
