So here's the first actual gotcha I've had with my M1 Mac: I can't get it to talk to my ancient Samsung CLP-620 printer.
Okay, that's not entirely true, but it's a lot harder. I had to follow this
advice to install a jumbo pack of drivers, and it's got a bunch of printers listed that don't match my exact printer because it's too old.
One possible option is to install Gutenprint (
discussion thread,
home page), except that my printer isn't listed there either.
For now, the workaround is that I print from my existing Intel Mac, but the writing is on the wall for buying a new printer. This bugs me because the old one's hardware is still just fine, and we have plenty of replacement toner cartridges as well.
