It should do. Unfortunately the Windows upgrade program isn't as helpful as it could be and the manual talks about switching the player on and off rather than connecting and disconnecting the power.

Firstly, it is important to run emplode and reconfigure it to use the serial correct serial port in the options dialog the first time you upgrade. Once the upgrade is complete you can configure it back to using the USB port if necessary. Unless the upgrade process changes you shouldn't need to do this part again.

Before starting the actual upgrade your empeg-car should be completely unpowered by removing the power connector. Run the upgrade program and enter or confirm the filename and wait for the "Finding unit..." stage. Once the progress bar starts moving you should reconnect the power to your unit and the upgrade should commence.

I hope this helps to solve any problems people are having with upgrading. Hopefully a more detailed guide should be available by the time beta6 is available.
