Nuts, well that really bursts my bubble.
Now I have to figure out how to get my music off, since I have a half-assed backup done. And all my new stuff I will have to rerip, but I guess this will allow me to take the crap off my player that I have gotten sick of.
OK, so on another note, the IBM tools indicate this:
Drive Information
Serial Number: xxxx
Failure code: 0x70 - Defective Device
Additional code: 0x77
Test date: 22-01-2002
Technical Result Code (TRC) for RMA: 79775F11
Now back to my previous question: Should I RMA this drive direct with IBM, or should I setup a support incident with Empeg/SB ??(Which case would bring a resolution the quickest? ie a new/fixed disk, and a working empeg)
Or I could go out and buy another disk right now, and have a working empeg at the end of the day, but, the disks from the empeg are too big to fit into my laptop, so I really dont have a desire or need for an extra 18gb laptop disk.
I guess I could sell the defective disk, and have the customer RMA the drive, but I am unsure if there are legal implications with the situation.
Also, is it possible to re-flash the player with my current good disk and reconstruct the database with the existing fids on the disk? to have a runctioning player?
I assume the player software places tunes sequentially across the disks. ie fills the first disk then proceeds to the second disk.
Hugo, Tony, please advise.
Thanks
