it would be nice if it could play a test
zone - and then do it just front/real left/right etc - rather
than having to mess around with the balance/fader...

Rather like the Dolby Digital left-centre-right-rear right etc. film reel. It is actually quite fun to listen to.

Unfortunately we can only do left and right in an mp3. Doing front and rear would require software support.
