On a related note, IWBNI there were an option to beep only for the remote. I'd happily lose the car/home distinction to get a panel/remote distinction. Rationale: I can easily tell by feel that I've pressed a button on the player , but I have to look to see if I was successful in pointing the remote so it's not obstructed by the gearstick.
