it looks like I might have to cut my dash a little, or remove the pull out handle and trim the out side of the fascia on the empeg.

Given the choice of cutting the car or cutting the player, I'd cut the car every time.

Don't panic, though, you might be just fine. Wait till you get the player and see. Many stereo shops sell installation kits that allow afternarket stereos to fit nicely into the dash, maybe all you need is one of those.
