patties that sit around too long end up being turned into chili

I have heard this also. But the version that I heard was that "today's unsold patties are tomorrows chili." I don't think this is too repulsive. Dave Thomas used to eat Wendy's chili everyday... oh wait, that doesn't help my argument.
