Just got an SV24 from Ubid If you can live with a slower processor (no Tualatin (sp?)) Check out Ubid. They have them occasionally, I goit mine for $133.
I'm making a musinc server and LOVE the size (don't need too much speed). Got the box, very good quality build and Very anodizable (read Black!) front panel. May go custom with my own front panel and do a custom CD door cover too. Or Maybe jsut cut a slot for the Empeg

Bruno,

The "new" ATI board that Carmack talks about is the Radeon 8500 correct? Or is it a preproduction board not out yet?

The new board that he likes is a preproduction R300. He talks about the 8500 in his plans too, and how bad the drivers were from the technical standpoint at launch.

If you need a recommendation on a new PCI card though: ATI Radeon VE

Bruno, FWIW, I snagged a PCI Radeon VE/7000 from NewEgg and just installed it as a secondary to my AGP AIW Radeon. Works great! I'm finally getting to use that 17" monitor that work sent me two years ago! (I had a 21" and actually asked them not to send it with my laptop docking station, but the system didn't have the option to *not* send it, so it had been sitting on the shelf...)

Now to set up VNC clients on the secondary display -- stop punching the keyboard switch!
