Is anyone else able to drop to shell from the player on the developer image? I can't seem to do so on either my mkII running beta12 or beta12b ... Trying to determine if this is because I've finally ditched my windows box and something is misconfigured in minicom, or if its a bug in the player code itself....

I've been able to drop to shell in every version.

What is the problem, what happens when you press 'q' from console on developer image?

When I press 'q' nothing happens at all. It just keeps churning away playing music.

I may have to attach the thing back over to my windows box just to see if the windows box's hyperterminal can talk to the newer software... if it can, then I know I'm attacking a linux weirdness... if it can't then its something else entirely... :-/

Have you set up HT for hardware handshaking?

I'll have to look and see if one is using hardware and one isn't. That's a good place to look (will deal with that when I get home tonight.
