I just attempted to upgrade to beta9. Now when the empeg boots up, it stays on "Building music Databases..." for awhile (before the upgrade, it just booted quick) then it would get stuck on the empeg logo with the hard drive indicator on. I tried to turn it off and on several times, even went back to reinstalling beta8c, then back to beta9, same results. Any ideas as to what's wrong?? Thanks.

They pulled beta 9 because of a memory bug (the one that caused your problems and mine). I happen to have a beta 9+ that's an interim fix that Mike sent me to test today (it fixes that memory bug but the EQ's are still not all there yet), but I don't know if Mike wanted 9+ distributed. So for now, go back to beta 8c until they have a chance to officially post 9a. Remember to rewind your Emplode to beta 8c, as well.

Damn it, I made a point of checking this board immediately before installing the upgrade two hours ago (I had downloaded it last night)

If the empeg staff knows of a bug like this, can't they please post that information immediately, instead of letting people like me get blindsided by these problems? It's very stressful not knowing if I've lost all my data.

Didn't you check the "Bug Reports" forum before installing it? I had a pretty long post there about beta 9 last night. Sorry you didn't see it. I think it was there that Mike said he was pulling beta 9.

Anyway, you haven't lost any data. You can either leave the unit as-is and don't synch, or you can revert to 8c. Up to you. Either way the unit should keep working (as long as you don't try to synch with beta 9).

I will definitely check the Bug Reports forum next time. I looked at General because that's where the announcement for the release 9 was posted.

Just had a scare. All's well that end's well.

Once I discovered the problem I altered the announcement in General and edited the web page. I'm not sure what else I could have done.
