So, those SVee6s from bgmicro.com which come with the short antenna pigtail and antenna, which plug into the board... what are those connectors?

I want an extension cable.

2mm. Although I haven't seen written confirmation, or tested, the following from Digikey should work; (prices from Jan-Apr2002 catalogue, obviously subject to change)

For a ribbon cable;
2 off ASA08K-ND - Tyco/Amp 8 position Receptical, IDC (Amp# 1-111626-6) : $2.39 ea.
1 off WM11-5-ND - Molex 1mm pitch Round conductor flat cable. (5 feet appears to be minimum quantity, and this is 10 conductors, so you'll have to carefully peel 2 away) : $4.60
1 off 3M11108-ND - 3M pin stip header, 2mm, 8 contacts (3M # 151208-8422-TB) : $0.83

For a through hole pcb mount:
1 off 3M1008-ND - 3M 2mm vertical socket, pc mount (3M # 150208-6002-TB) : $1.04

For a surface mount pcb;
1 off SPE1031-ND - Specialty Electronics, Dual Row Top Entry 2mm Receptacle, 8 contact. (SE # 205-04-1501) : $1.34
( *** This is similar to the connector that is attached to the short flat cable that came with the Sv6 *** )

Or you could look at Hirose "DF11 Interconnect wire" in conjunction with their A3B series crimp housings. You'd need to buy 8 of the wires in your desired length, with the desired connectors already attached, and the 8 position housing (s). Very flexible - , eg you can order each wire in a different color, and with different termination options, socket single ended, socket to socket, socket to pin etc. You have to assemble the cable yourself obviously.

Sorry, I guess I was unclear. I meant the antenna cable connector, not the other. For the other I'm just cutting the molex off what's there and resoldering the ends.

Ahhh... SMB. The receiver has a jack on it, the following plugs should mate to it.

If you don't have a suitable crimper, then make sure you get one with a solderable inner connector, such as;

ARF1233-ND - Amphenol, SMB plug, straight (Amphenol # 903-370P-51S : $6.75

or
ARF1235-ND - Amphenol, SMB plug, right angled (Amphenol # 903-367P-51A2 : $4.14

You'll still have to crimp the outer shield on those, but at least you stand a chance of doing that without a $200 tool. Both of those are for RG- 174, 179, 187, 188, or 316

For RG- 178, 196;
ARF1236-ND - Amphenol, SMB plug, right angle (Amphenol # 903-368P-51A1 ) : $4.62
(no straight version listed... at least in the Digikey catalogue I've got.

I've yet to find an SMB jack for a cable end. It looks like jacks come in pcb mount or bulkhead mount only. (Which is one of the reasons I switched to SMA)

I'll guess I can find someone with the crimping tool, but the lack of a jack is annoying. The goal was to do this without tampering with the antenna or GPS at all.

Johnson also do those adapters, but I doubt you'll end up using them;

J621-ND - SMA Plug to SMB Jack (Johnson # 134-1012-011) : $29.70
J622-ND - SMA Plug to SMB Plug (Johnson # 134-1012-021) : $32.40
J623-ND - SMA Jack to SMB Jack (Johnson # 134-1012-031) : $29.70
J624-ND - SMA Jack to SMB Plug (Johnson # 134-1012-041) : $29.70

I thought about this for.... not very long at all.

A friend just pointed out "Get an SMB male to male cable and a barrel"

Guess I'll look into that.
