pca - I am checking the board so often for possible news that my wife thinks I'm having an affair with someone in an Internet chat room !

At the last update you were expecting shipping to be in full swing by mid Jan. Could you please give us an update on the current situation.

Me too (except instead of my wife, its my boss who's annoyed with the amount of time I'm spending looking at this forum)

pca,
is there any chance you could give us a quick update just to let us know what stage you're at with this. It would be great to have an idea if its going to be closer to tomorrow or next month when you will be taking orders for the tuner kits.

thanks a million
-Dan

It's all my fault. I'm helping with the web site as Patrick's original web person dropped out, but I've been caught up with work. I'm trying to finish it within the next couple of days.

What? The web site is causing delays? I wager many would be wiling to send cash through the mail. Illegal or not!

This just in: 8 million grandmothers arrested for illegal usage of the post office. "I didn't know it was illegal to send cash through the mail." Details at 11.

I Think it's kinda funny people who bought a product that holds countless hours of music want to listen to the radio so bad

It's not so much that we want to LISTEN to the radio, we just want the ABILITY to listen to the radio if we want to.

I Think it's kinda funny people who bought a product that holds countless hours of music want to listen to the radio so bad

I bought the thing because:

a) I'm so lazy about changing CDs that I listened to approximately 3% of my CDs.
b) I spent more time listening to music in vehicles that I do at home, and I hated rummaging about to find the appropriate CDs for a trip.

As a result:

a) I listen to *everything* I own, now.
b) My interest in music has gone from "I don't care if it's on" to "first thing I do when I get home is turn on the empeg".
c) My music tastes are expanding.
d) My original collection couldn't fill the hard drive, so I enjoy listening to new music that I might want to add to the empeg some day.
e) KCRW is a damn fine radio station (except when they're doing "Which way LA"), and has played a lot of stuff that I've never heard, but really like.
f) I listen to music at home more often than I listen to music in the car.

And all that without ever having installed the thing. It's been sitting on my desk for about a year now. One of these days, I'll get the motivation to install it. Probably some time after I get the tuner kit.

Does that explain things a bit better?

Oh, and just because it holds countless hours, doesn't mean that I have countless hours to put on it. Unlike some other members of this board that I might mention.

Maybe YOU just want the ability, but I actually DO want to listen to the radio. Well... one particular station anyway. One that's not owned by that Clearasil company, or whatever they're called.

"Leer Channel". Eh. I guess not all their morning shows are staffed by perverts.

Yeah, I use my (original) Tuner for 3 things.

1. It connects my Sony Stalk remote to my empeg, and that alone is worth the price of a tuner.

2. I listen to the cricket when its on, and Austrlia is not beating everyone in sight [or better yet, whenever Australia is being beaten].

3. The news, but only if its X oclock, and only if Bush or Blair is not doing a "State of the Union" speech that day.

And mostly I listen to the BBC world service on AM, or the local "NPR" equivalent on FM. Both of which are commercial free

Well the BBC is all ad-free exept at the start of each hour when they run 3 minutes of ads and then cut to the news - so I can listen to local news for 3 minutes on NPR, then switch to the BBC for the rest of the news.
[they make up the 3 minute delay they introduce, during the next hour using some clever software that digitises and then trims small sections of "silence" un-noticeably over the next 57 minutes of programming].

Well, RDS TA (traffic announcements) can be right handy sometimes... Which is just about all mine is used for.
I already have a tuner module, but will get the new one for the added interface possibilities.

I doubt that I will ever use the tuner to listen to music. I have a tuner in my setup at the moment and only ever use it to listen to football commentary/ results or traffic news.

I currently have a double DIN setup with the empeg feeding into the Aux-In of a Blaupunkt CD tuner. The volume control on the Head Unit is now faulty, so I want to ditch it and go to a single DIN empeg setup. I have installed an Amp in readiness and am just waiting for the tuner kit so that I can complete the change.

I also really want to be able to use the Sony stalk which I think is far better than any steering wheel remote. As number6 says this facility is worth the cost of the tuner alone

I think most of us are gearheads here and just want the tuner module cos 'it is possible to have a tuner module'. I can honestly say I would not listen to the radio that much, but would love to have the module anyway!

Bottom line:
If it's built, I'll buy one!

You're outta luck, then... these aren't built. Unless you do it yourself, anyway.

I want one mostly for the TA feature. It took me over 2 hours to complete what is usually a 40min journey this morning due to bad traffic, something TA would have warned me about.

Given the info from Rob (on the 28th Jan) that the web page could be sorted "within a couple of days" I'm now actually checking the BB even more frequently than I was before !!!!

I know patience is a virtue but I'm obviously a bad person. Can't we just send orders by Paypal ?
