In honor of my 401st post, I bring you the internet addiction test.

Long live the BBS.

"You are an average on-line user. You may surf the Web a bit too long at times, but you have control over your usage."

How often do you get annoyed when an online quiz uses the wrong UI widget?

Wow, I thought this was supposed to be a humorous quiz. They're serious about the addiction factor. You know what? Screw them! I don't need help!

--------
Your Score: 70

Results:
You are experiencing occasional or frequent problems because of the Internet. You should consider their full impact on your life.
--------

I've got an idea, perhaps they should spend more time on the internet, and realize that checkboxes are NOT suitable for a quiz of this type

I found this one a bit more humorous.

I can't get to the test! But I'll keep trying until I do!

"12. How often do you fear that life without the Internet would be boring, empty, and joyless?"

Thinking about it, surprisingly often; although not because I couldn't sit and browse websites, but because life would be boring and joyless because I'd have to put aside a whole day every week just to do things like go shopping and visit the bank. I'd waste countless hours writing cheques, looking up words in dictionaries or researching things at the library.

I recently considered renting a huge farmhouse in the middle of nowhere (only one or two other houses for half a mile in every direction, which is remote for England). My first consideration (even before the fact that I don't have a car) was 'I wonder how much two-way satellite internet access costs?'

The only real problem with that test is that any activity could be inserted instead and you'd get the same results. TV, eating, exercising, driving, etc. I mean, would yoe rather eat or be intimate with your partner? Depends on how hungry I am. How often do you form new relationships over dinner? Hmm... I've met quite a few people at dinner. Do you often eat more than you should? Yip. Does your studying time suffer because you really NEEDED that pizza? Yip.

I guess I must have a weight problem, oh wait, I'm only 140. Hmmmm.

Well, I'm looking fior a new place (because I don't have enough rooms to hide all my computers and guitars from my wife) and I fancy a place with a couple of hundred/thousand acres in the highlands. We drew up a list of criteria in order of importance.

Sadly, broadband connectivity was 3rd - after double garage and big kitchen, but before salmon river and guest wing

I connect up via 2-way satellite. Works great for the web. However if VPN is a factor, forget it.
