I have a problem with the display-unit.

The display has become dim.
After 1min running the text vanishes completely.
Then I see only the red lines on my display.

I already checked the three fuses near the display-connector with an ohmmeter.
They are all ok.

I made a test with my spare unit.
I changed the display-unit.
The fault is definitely on the display-unit.

Any suggestions ?

Thanks
Andreas

My guess would be the VFD itself (check the nipple and the glass to see if there is any sign of visible damage) or a capacitor problem on the display board. See the faulty VFD section of this FAQ entry for a way to test (if you have a multimeter handy).

Thanks for the hint

The nipple is ok.
It looks like the capacitor is faulty.

I have 20V instead of 60V
And when the text vanishes completely - There is only 14V.

Have someone experiences with that problem.
And is there an instruction how to change this capacitor.
Can I do this myself. (soldering iron is available)

You may still want to contact support. It might just be the one capacitor. In any case, Rob will be able to assist you further with this than I can.

Are you going to go public on your company name ?

Or do you only find out when you call out "****" in vain as your empeg has died.

And on a second note did you get my mail ?
