congrats on having a cat adopt you.
What about Patrick?
[assuming he's a male, or perhaps Patricia if not].
Patrick is of course a reference to member pca, who has a photo on his website, not unlike this photo.
And pca is of course a cat-person as well, his cat being named Pixel.
And of course, you are no doubt aware [or will be soon], that:
Dogs have owners,
Cats have staff

LOL!
Yeah, I've had cats my whole life. That's part of the reason I can't think of a name, I've pretty much used all the good ones I've liked in the past, and I don't want to name him a name I've used already.

Pinky, rez, brain, and phase are the only ones from that list I hadn't thought of.
I had a friend that named his cat Mouse, so that ruins the fun of that.
Hmm.. I like rez.

I have (well, my parents have really) a cat that looks a lot like that named Lightning, we call her Missy for short (has nothing to do with the actual name obviously). That name worked out well as she is now over 16 years old and still very frisky and energetic (why we named her Lightning in the first place).
I do like the computer lore naming scheme that PCA and others have going. If I got a new cat I would be tempted to name it nible or malloc.

It usually takes me a good week or so before I name my cats. That way you have time to get to know some of their personality traits and something always comes to mind. Give it a few more days and you'll come up with something.
My newest kitten I adopted from the vets and they named him Slick because he had a spot of oil on his forehead when found. I started calling him a pip squeak because he was so much smaller than my others cats and he got renamed to Pippin, Pip for short, and it suits him well.
Never rush naming a cat

I really like "Napster" for a cat. So many cats are named for their behaviour when they are kittens, so later you have this big, fat, immobile cat name "rocket" or "turbo". "Napster" will work out better in the future...
I've always liked "Pyewacket" for a cat. That was the name of witch's cat in the movie "Bell, Book, and Candle".
My own current cats are Pancho, Kitten (an old cat that still looks and is sized like a kitten). The dog is YuanYuan, chinese words meaning "round" and "money". It's the skinniest dog alive...

I'd suggest that a trip to the vet could prevent unwanted p2p networking.

That is an adorable looking kitten.
If he had been black, you could have named him Bagheera.

how about a name more in line with his station in your house:
his/her highness
your-holiness
master
chief
or his behaviour:
no-stop-that
not-the-couch
owww-my-leeegg
off-the-table
drat
or his future occupation:
mittens (the kitten)
no, really, I do like cats.

If he had been black, you could have named him Bagheera. Bagheera was the name I have to an all black kitten I had around the time I got my Mark 1. Smart little guy, as he had figured out where on the pizza boxes to bat to open the lid and get at the food.
*sigh*, I do miss him at times.
R.I.P. Bagheera. I'm still sorry...

I've always liked the names Fido and Rover for cats.
Or i've got a friend who is a philosophy major with a cat named Gizmo. This is based on the theory from some old philosopher guy (I forget his name) who says that all animals are just complicated machines.

I know I'm getting into to this thread late but heres a few:
Widowhead (Because he has such a "wido head" not!)
Fizzgig (because I like that name and he looks like trouble)
Tracer (because he looks like he can move like a shot)
Clip (because he looks like he wants to move at a fast clip)
Thanatos (because he looks like he wants ta kill ya, he's even licking his chops!)

My first cat was Flinx - which seemed appropriate.
My current 13 year old huge black cat is called Braveheart (not my choice) but he responds to 'cat', 'fatty', 'here's food' etc

I have two cats, one of them is named ThunderKitty we got him when he was about three. He's a brute, weighed in at 18lbs. He's lost a lot of weight now due to diabetes but he's still kickin' around and seems to be enjoying life even though he has lost a lot of mobility. The other is named Tigger he's young (about 5) and brings us "presents" shrews, mice, lizards, snakes, birds, squirrels, fully grown rabbits, etc.

Seriously though, I think either Linus, Bit, or Syzygy.

I had an all black cat a year ago or so named Capo. He was hit by a car about a month after I lost my job, apartment and had to move back in with my parents. About a day later my sisters boyfriend found three kittens that were covered in paint and grease/oil. We took two of them them in (her boyfriend kept the third) and named them Harley and Chance. They are both still with my parents and sister. A few months before all that we had a cat named Biscuit (don't ask ) that died of poisoning of some sort; never did figure out exactly what happened. We also had a Russian Blue named Kitty (we could never decide what to call him ), but he was mentally disturbed. He had major behavioral problems and we ended up taking him to the ASPCA, which I still regret. He was about 10 years old.
That's probably more than any of you wanted to know.
So, anyway, when I moved out (again) I immediately started looking for a cat. I've never lived anywhere without cats for more than a month or so, so it just feels weird to not have one around.

Yeah, that sort of came out of nowhere. My sister and I were sitting trying to think of a name and she was playing her guitar and she said "Can you pass me that capo over there?" I said, "That's IT! We'll name him Capo."

I wouldn't feel too bad. Normal cats make wonderful pets. Cats with severe emotional issues can be downright dangerous. If not to you, then to some kidi that comes into contact. Basically it all boils down to the fact that if cats were twice their normal size, we wouldn't keep them as pets.

Very true; he was urinating and defecating everywhere. He didn't start doing that until about three months before we got rid of him.
Other than that he was a great cat; very well tempered, playful and loving. Plus, I've always liked Russian Blues, the color is just real kewl and their eyes are always mesmerizing. Still, I don't like the fact that he more than likely ended up being euthanized because of us.

Basically it all boils down to the fact that if cats were twice their normal size, we wouldn't keep them as pets. No, we leave that up to Sigfreid and Roy.

Better them than me. I have a friend here that has a completely nuts cat. It's the meanest s-o-b I've ever seen. He does enough damage at 8 pounds. I couldn't imagine one that weighed 40. -=shudder=-
