I remember reading someone else had the same problem a couple of days back. Seems to be since the move to a new server.

First problem was that an MTA wasn't installed. Took care of that to fix the PM e-mails and such.

I also forgot the database changed, and the subscription mailer uses a different config file. It has since been fixed as well.

I noticed that, and also couldn't reply to 'regular' posts (but was able to send private messages - strange). The browser would always timeout in 'preview' step. If you see this message, that particular gremlin has gone... (Oh, and my @#!% provider took their sweet time updating DNS server )

I've had a strange problem. I run my own local name server, so after the server move I restarted it to force it to pick up the new IP address. I checked that everything was working after doing this.

Despite this I discovered today that my name server had gone back to caching the old IP address. I've just had to restart it again to get the right IP address, strange.

I'm having a hella time also. I'm not sure if it's my ISP or my machine. I get the "hi", "flush your..." , and a successful connect to the bbs about an equal percentage of the time.

I try a series of steps and then give up. 8 hours later it alternates to one of the other two. I'm hoping its my ISP (noos.fr) and it'll work itself out over time.

There seem to be five nameservers for the comms.net domain. One of them, NS-4.REGISTRY.KNOWTION.net, isn't responding for me right now. Another, NS-5.REGISTRY.KNOWTION.net, has the wrong data for empeg.comms.net.

How is empegbbs.com resolving for everyone? I might just change the BBS over to that domain if it has populated better.

empegbbs.com resolved to 66.219.41.221, and and my browser redirected me to empeg.comms.net.

I use internal DNS servers pulling from uu.net servers.

This is how I had it set up in the past and this is what is still happening with me. However, I think this may be how Tom wants it to work now.

I am using Verizon DNS servers in NYC.

empegbbs.com has address 66.219.41.221
empeg.comms.net has address 66.219.41.221

I run my own DNS server, slaved from the root servers.

Cheers

Again, one of comms.net's nameserver's has old data. This is what's causing problems. Also, for me, it seems to be the fastest server, so BIND was using its data most of the time. I had to flush my cache about four times before it got the data from another one.

I didn't check when it failed this time but I flushed my cache and rebooted. Now I can get through and both resolve to 66.219.41.221.

When it failed previously, empegbbs.com redirected to empeg.comms.net which failed.

I have the same problem.
I'm subscribed to the 'announcement' and 'for sale' list and all e-mails come in pairs...
Even the headers are 100% the same (yes, also the time and message ID)
