Yeah, my car luck is pretty unbelievable ain't it.

Don't know how bad it is yet... so far it just looks cosmetic. Drivers door, front quarter panel, front bumper and headlights are all definitely going to have to be replaced. The only unknown is how bad it hit the tire... if it bent suspension stuff. Doesn't look like it though... it missed the rim and scratched the tire, so it probably absorbed it pretty well.

So much for the rally school. I just called and cancelled.

I've gotta actually go into the police station to report it. Should be fun.

Oh, and for those who didn't read the note... it was supposedly a City Tow Truck driver who did it. The worst part is that if i would have left work on time and not been fooling around with trying to post from my phone to my weblog, it wouldn't have happened.

Loren, I'm so sorry this happened. Best of luck getting it fixed up. If it really was the city, you can probably get some kind of a record of all the tow truck's calls that day and prove it was in your area at the time.

If the driver has any sense he'll fess up. Trying to hide it will only get him fired if they eventually find out. Admitting guilt off the bat will save his job. Accidents happen.

Judging by the scrape I'd say there's definitely paint transfer.

You could probably tell by the height of the impact. If I remember the photos correctly, it looked kind of high up on your car. Also, if there is a tow truce with a scrape of black paint on it...

For the same reason that I've heard the joke made about someone leaving the note which said:

As opposed to him simply disappearing? Sure, him putting down a note keeps other witnesses from reporting *his* ass, but if the city tow truck lead fails, the first thing they'll do is ask local body shops if there are any leads. If the only person who "saw the thing happen" happened to bring his car in for repairs, don't you think that raises an eyebrow?

No, it's the law that i can bring it wherever i want. But the insurer does have preferred garages, and if i have a problem then it goes through the isurer instead of me having to deal with it. I don't have to wait because i chose to just pay the deductible and get things rolling... so if my insurance company tracks down the tow truck driver and all that... i'll get the deductible back in full. It's either that or i have to do the leg work and calling myself, and it will take forever.
