That's my car. It has a real NY empeg plate in back and a fake Swedish empeg plate in front.

Cute plate - Sweden is using a different font now for their plates now, far from being as cool as the one on your saab. I think it changed last year or so.
tada,

Yeah, we've had a bunch of different variants over the last, oh maybe, 8-10 years...
Hmmm, some googling revealed that it was actually in already back in '84 the plastic plates were introduced... time flies...
Those I remember: original (as in had for quite a time) had a medium fat (compared to those who followed) font with pressed/raised numbers - made of metal. Then I think we went to a somewhat blockier/squarer font and with the characters printed on (couple of machine washes and they would be rubbed clean) plastic.
After that we got a fversion with the characters protected by a top layer of plastic. Then we got the slimmer font ones (start of 2002), and again of metal (aluminium), and the last ones have the slim font + the EU thingy.

That's about what I thought - but how did you get the Swedish plate?

licenseplates.tv is where I got mine made.
This plate is someone else's in the club and he got his from ebay. It's supposedly real. I can't remember if it was metal or plastic though.

Interesting link - looks like it could be quite a resource to the criminal minded...
Judging by the picture it looks like one of the plastic generation of plates from between '84 and '94. For anyone interested, here's a page on Swedish license plates...

Mark,
Thanks for the Geocaching, my newfound hobby. I bought a Meridian GPS Unit after I came back home. I have since hit the 5 cache's in my area: 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5. I'll be doing some more hunting in the weeks to come!!
Just a note, if you haven't tried Geocaching, give it a try. It really is a lot of fun. I'm going to be hitting a multi-stage cache at the Battle of Camden site with Meatballman and his wife in the coming weeks, hopefully.
*edit: Sorry about all the links, guys, but I just wanted to increase the interest of Geocaching if at all possible!

Interesting link - looks like it could be quite a resource to the criminal minded... I've not seen too many real swedish plates, but I would imagine this one is pretty accurate. The white paint is that reflective stuff that US plates have and there are also watermarks that you can only see at an angle.
The only thing that I wasn't sure of was if Swedish plates had the euroband on the left side. But, I think a couple posts back you said they did. If anyone wants a custom plate, I would highly recommend licenseplates.tv. I am extremely pleased with the quality of my plate.

They're apparently made on stock bought from the Swedish manufacturer, pressed and painted, which I imagine is the same the Swedsh manufacturer does, so they're very accurate. I had a look a Vägverkets (department in charge) page and apparently you can get plates both with and without the EU stuff - presumably because it adds 30mm to the width, and that might not fit all cars. You can also get an even more narrow plate - the same width as a typical US plate, so as to fit for instance US cars.

Just look at all of the lives that Tom (Drakino) ruined by bringing along his GPRr last year.. Hey, no blaming me for that. Visuvius started the thread that led me to getting mine. That, and seeing the StreetPilot III in person at one of the California empeg meets. I was just doing my part to spread the GPS bug across the US to other meets .
