Just what exactly will happen if the unit is angled more than the max. 16 degreees??
I have a boxster and it is installed in lower console, which I presume is pretty darn close to limit??
If I go down steep hill will the songs fall out????

That was VERY funny!

Tony,
Didn't you have a drive failure?
In reply to:

I ran my Empeg in a rough-riding car, daily for months, without the rubber shocks being functional at all. This would definitely qualify as mistreatment, but I haven't had any electronic or mechanical trouble with it.

Maybe you should have knocked on wood or something?

On random occasions, yes, the songs do fall out. Typically it happens as you're going downhill and land yourself right into a pothole. The abrupt jar will typically cause one or more playlists to leak out of the harness. You'll want to park your car immediately, yank out the empeg and scoop out the songs up quickly before they get into the carpet. (You'll want to place them in a envelope or a zip lock baggie!) As we all know, getting digital music out of the carpet is a terrible ordeal so be careful! Softening up the suspension might help...

You're right, I did have a drive failure, and it could possibly have been attributed to the shock mounts failing (although we may never know). The majority of Empeg owners will have the Mark2 trays with the better shock mounts so I didn't think that was worth changing the FAQ for.

I was told to tell no one of this...

A lady friend of mine was in the car and I was showing her how to operate the Empeg. She was looking over the carrying case and looked into the small zippered pocket on the front...

"Is this where you keep the little MP3s?"

Yes... and you shake them into the machine through the holes on the top.
