Can one of the S2k or Audi TT owners explain exactly how the flip down stereo cover is put together? Is that part of the din slot? I'm interested in getting one of those, but I'm wondering how they work.

The cover hinges over the front of the DIN slot - it doesn't get in the way of the empeg at all, and looks rather cool.

I'm sort of interested in purchasing a flip down cover from somewhere and attempting to graft it in front of my din slot. I wonder how feasible...

The TT flip down cover is pretty integrated into the center console.
I wouldn't be surprised if the S2K is similar - because they copied many aspects of the car (except the charm). ;-)

Audi TT, wasn't that the car that was retrofitted with spoilers because of some ... how shall we say ... bad steering behaviour ? Charming indeed ... JUST KIDDING! It looks nice but is not my taste, now a BMW Z3 roadster ... ehr ... never mind. Same steering problem . Every time I take my BMW to the shop for maintenance, there is one sometimes even two of those z3 roadsters in the back completely in shambles. Apparently they are rented out at the dealer where I go for weekend trips/events. Last time the Z3 that was there in pretty bad shape was totalled by a driving instructor ... Now that kind of makes me wonder. Hans Mk2 - Blue - 080000431

I wouldn't be surprised if the S2K is similar - because they copied many aspects of the car (except the charm). ;-)Interesting. I've been following its progress since before it went into production, have read damn near every automotive journalist's impressions of the car, and nowhere have I seen ANY reference to similarities in styling between the two cars. (or were you baiting Honda fanatics? ) Actually, no...thats not entirely true. I think I read somewhere once that sufficient doses of crack cocaine can lead the TT driver to see the similarity between his car and an S2000, a Hummer, and a Dodge Aries K. The funnier, and more likely misconception, is that of Miata drivers who, although having the most visually similar roadster to the S2000 (blasphemy, ultimately) failed to notice that in roadster comparisons, very early on in the articles it is clearly indicated that the Miata is not even worth including with the lineup of S2000s, Z3s, TTs, Boxsters, etc. -- and will delude themselves into thinking the S2000 is in their class. I will give credit for Mazda for having kept the torch lit for that market segment. The TT is a work of art, don't get me wrong. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -- MK2 #141, green, 12GB Edited by Fogduck on 12/11/00 07:26 PM.

Tsk, Z3's. There was a Z3M buried backwards in a gravel trap at Donington Park today, along with a 944 turbo that overdid it and a few caterhams.
No MX5's (miatas) were hurt. I didn't even spin off this time :)
The miata isn't as fast as an S2000; it is however significantly cheaper and a very well handling car.

You're spoiled, Hugo. If there's one thing my Z3M Touring ( M coupe to those who don't get the joke) has taught me, it's that the Miata is a fantastically forgiving car, and very easy to drive near its limits. After a couple of years of taking the Miata to the track, I thought I was a pretty respectable driver, and my lap times showed it. The coupe has humbled me. Not that I'm getting discouraged...off to Laguna Seca with the coupe on Friday. The miata isn't as fast as an S2000; it is however significantly cheaper and a very well handling car.
And much easier to drive fast than the S2000. On paper, my Miata (stock engine, lots of suspension work) shouldn't be able to hold a candle to an S2000. At Laguna, I can keep up with most of them. And these would be rides at Walt Disney World?

They certainly are E-Ticket rides, but aren't actually within the park boundaries. Linkage: http://www.laguna-seca.comhttp://www.searspoint.comhttp://www.thunderhill.com-Zandr Mk.I #150 Mk.II #39

Not intentional (*grin*).
Isn't it great not to have karma on this board.

Only just noticed this post, I was supposed to attend that track day, but my car was recovering from a session at Croft a few weeks earlier. Would this pic be your good self ? Did you notice the couple of Lotus Exiges - and care to comment on how well they performed ?

No, mine's a white MX5 with turbo/suspension kit. I was in that "group" though (with the exige - I only remember one).
The exige seemed to go pretty well (looked very nice), but don't remember it passing me (though it probably did at the beginning of the day).
Might be going to spectate at the 30th December one, though I missed getting a place booked to drive there :(

Need a _real_ car? Get a Subaru Impreza WRX STi! Now there's a car that can outhandle and outcircuit a TT or M Coupe ;) I own one as well - does that make me biased?
