...when I had to cut holes in the floor to free a hamster who'd managed to find a way into the floor that couldn't be used to get back out...
Why am I suddenly hearing echos of "A Habitrail Named Klein" in my head???

Basically I assume they gave you an RMA number. What you have to do is fax them your receipt, as they told you. Then whats SUPPOSED to happen is they are supposed to email you letting you know your RMA is active. For me and others, that never happened. I would go ahead and ship the unit after you fax your receipt instead of waiting for them to get back to you. I wasted a week like that.
At that time, you have to box up your player and send it to:
DNNA
2800 STORY ROAD
DOCK D
IRVING TX 75038-5267
Then you can sit around a wait a few weeks and they will send you a new unit (supposedly, Im still waiting).
Now, SUPPOSEDLY DNNA now has units to use for RMAs so maybe everyone else's process will be quicker than mine has been. My whole ordeal started a month ago on the 9th and I still dont have a new player.
Good luck

The fun thing's going to be finding the receipt. It's around somewhere but in the intervening time the area where I keep financial crap was disturbed when I had to cut holes in the floor to free a hamster who'd managed to find a way into the floor that couldn't be used to get back out. For one terrible moment I thought that that was the reply from Rio. In the Sonicblue days it would've been all too plausible...

Well, I have had to migrate to wireless in my dining and living rooms - as they are the domain of two rabbits. Had a bunch of cables chewed up before I learned that lesson...

What is it about animals and cable chewing? You'd think the cables would taste bad to the animals or something. Do they think the cables have a hidden creamy nougat center?

Well, they clearly have a nice, chewy texture. And at least to rabbits, they look like roots - something you just have to chew on.
I have found that the rabbit brain is probably wired to divide the world into a few clear categories - "dangerous - run away", "edible - chew on it!" and "hmm... mate!"

I've seen this a couple of times recently. (On this board, I think.)
``Loathe'' is a verb: ``I loathe to go to the dentist.''
``Loath'' is an adjective: ``I am loath to go to the dentist.''
They're pronounced differently, too. (Not that I can tell whether you're mispronouncing it or not; I say this to be complete.) The `th' sound in ``loathe'' is like that at the beginning of ``this''. The `th' sound at the end of ``loath'' is like that at the beginning of ``thin''.

There is also something in the electrical insulation that is tasty.

There is also something in the electrical insulation that is tasty. You'd think that cable manufacturers would have wised to this long ago and started adding ingredients to make it taste bad.

Why would they do that when your cables get chewed up you have to buy new ones.
Someday secret documents will be uncovered showing cable manufacturers actually did research to make cables more attractive to animals.

I've heard that as well. You get a sweet taste when you chew on electrical insulation. I've never tried it myself so it could just an urban legend.

Hmmm, let's see, you have rats living in your ceiling...
...I think you have more problems than just worrying about the wires they are chewing.
