I having a problem with audiocatalyst. On every cd i rip and encode, the first track has some skipping on it. It has just started this behavior recently. Any ideas on how to fix it or what could be causing it?

Does the skipping occur at the beginning of the first track? This is just a shot in the dark, but does Audiocatalyst have a "spin up disc before ripping" option?

I already have that checked. I fixed it by turning on sync data transfer in the control panel under my plextor cdrom. Thanks for the help.

Get Exact Audio Copy for Windows, or cdparanoia for Linux. It's the only way to be sure...

The sync data transfer box didn't fix it, but reinstalling ASPI did.

I have EAC, I usually only use it on its that are scratched up a bit. If the cd is in good shape, I use audiograbber now.

Hi Sean.

With a drive that supports error detection (C2), EAC should not be any slower or otherwise minor to Audiograbber, but way superior when it comes to making exact grabs on scratched discs. Effectively, EAC 0.9pb7 is about 2-3% slower than AudioGrabber on a new disc, and about 50% slower on a severely scratched one. However, AudioGrabber produces different results on each run on that scratched disc, while EAC always produces the same result. While I can live with the slowdown on new discs, I certainly canīt live with damaged grabs like AG produces on scratched discs.

I have a plextor 8/4/32 drive. Its been very reliable for DAE so far. Maybe there is some setting in EAC that I have set wrong that could be causing it to go much slower than normal. I'll take a second look at the settings.

Another alternative is to "unscratch" the disk. Take a look here for a link to how to do it.
