Is there a shortcut for marking a track when you're driving? (please don't say "use the remote" ;-) The menu-driven method takes too long while driving along to be safe...

No, but you could use Hijack button translations to do it. Not sure where you'd put it. Maybe a long top button press if you don't use that to turn the empeg ``off''.

Sure, Use the HiJack Menu and select "Knob Press Redefinition", change default to either "PopUp0" or "Mark"

Or just hit the "4" key on the remote

As was already said, you could use the Hijack knob press redefinition.

Wanted to make sure everyone knew: If you don't have hijack or you don't want to use that feature, the Mark function is also located within the "bookmarks" menu (for want of a better place to put it).

I thought it was the cancel button. At least that's what it says on my remote.

Most of the "remote only" functions are available from the Hijack "PopUp0" menu, which can be enabled via Hijack's Knob Press Redefinition option on the main Hijack screen.

And it is almost trivial to add any that are missing, and many that simply don't exist even on the remote -- PopUp0 is just a default macro built-into Hijack, which can be replaced/supplemented in config.ini.

Of course, just about everything is also on a player menu somewhere.. several levels deep.

Cheers

Slight Hijack here, but has there been any more consdieration of making multiple ways to "Mark" a track? I know it was mentioned in the wish list area about a year or more ago, but I'm still looking forward to someone adding this feature. Could it be done through Hijack (obviously not now but in the future)? It would just give the mark track feature more flexibility and possibilities of use.

You could always install 3.00a7 which seems to be randomly marking tracks at will with no user intervention on my machine

It seems to mark about 50% of the tracks that I have freshly uploaded. I can't explain it. Others have reported it tagging things when changing sources

I confirm. Same to me. And I also confirm it usually happens with recently uploaded tracks, which may be an impression of mine, still...

Don't think this is anything to do with new tracks anymore. I have some stuff which has been there ages getting randomly marked. It doesn't seem to be fixed either after a song has been played once with 3.0a7 which I though it might due to a format change or something in the dynamic partition.

It probably just seems like the new tracks uploaded since when I upload them i usually try to listen to them straight away.

Very annoying since I do this.

Have you figured out any pattern to it?

The debug build of v3 used to have a 'feature' where it would mark a track if it turned out to be longer than the tag said. I wonder if it got let out into the alpha?

VBR tracks might have the wrong length marked due to the rounding error in lib/tags that Peter posted the fix for a month or so ago.

Don't think so. It's happening on CBR files for me.

Yes, also "old" tracks get marked, also here. All that I noticed is that I have this phenomenon only soon after I switch the empeg on, or soon after switching back form the radio to the player. Sometimes the current track gets marked right away, some other times it does not, but following track is. Also, usually this happens for few (two or three) tracks ina row, then it stops for good. Until the next power-up or switch back from radio, I mean.

Mine seems to randomly mark them all the time. However it rarely gets turned on for more than about 40 minutes - i.e. the time it takes for me to get to or from work.
