I have just received a Linksys WET11 bought via eBay only to find the AC adapter and setup CD are missing. I'll try to work things out with the seller but I'd like to start using it right away.

I think I can use the CD-less Mac setup instructions to perform the setup so no real problems about the missing CD.

I have a question about the power requirements and I'm writing here in the hope that someone can tell me what specification the AC adapter is:

On the bottom of the unit it states "Power: 5.0VAC 2.0A" but the online specification (.pdf) states "DC 5 V".

So, can anyone here please clarify whether it should be AC or DC?

I would venture to guess that it's DC , but please dont take advice from someone who lost his job yesterday, and then today cut off the tip of his thumb making spaghetti sauce.

In spite of you losing your job and cutting the top off your thumb, I'm inclined to agree with you Seriously though, I hope the thumb heals well and that you find a new job soon

I've just taken it apart and other than a reverse polarity diode, there's no rectifier arrangement that I recognise.

What's odd though, apart from the 5VAC on the underside, is that it doesn't have the usual legend indicating the input polarity like most AC adapter-fed devices.

I'd still welcome comments from any WET11 owners, especially if they could put a DVM across the adaptor's outputs to confirm it's really DC.

It's a 5V DC PSU according to this. The guy has powered his WET11 off a battery pack.

Thanks, it's DC then, no doubt.

I've just fed DC 5v into it and apart from the power LED, nothing else happens. No Lan or diag. LED's and the hub doesn't 'see' an ethernet device on that port. The wonders of eBay - better luck next time I guess

On my wet11, the diag light never lights.

Did you fiddle with the cross over switch?

Thanks, that's reassuring to know. I gave up trying with the AC adapter I had here; the connector was too small and the connection was sometimes intermittent. The good news is that the eBay seller acknowledged he hadn't sent the proper adapter and it's in the post so I'll wait a few days

Did you fiddle with the cross over switch?

I flicked it a few times but, to be truthful, my hub can be a little flaky and I can't swear that I wasn't using one of the dodgey ports. Added to that, I know I have a few bad ethernet cables around here so I guess I need to start testing them using known-working equipment. My excuse is; I've just moved house and I ended up chucking everything (good, bad, unknown) into boxes at the last minute so I've lost all track of what's good and what's not!

Sorry to be late in the thread, but I've been programming my new remote. I've just unplugged the WET 11 power adaptor in my kitchen, it says 4.5 - 5.0v, 2.0 - 2.3a - curiously it doesn't specify AC or DC, but the multimeter proves it to be DC, any help?
Incidentally mine has a polarity diagram, so the multimeter was largely a formality.
