Come to think of it, there IS one minor annoyance I have with the search feature. When searching with the google toolbar, the words you seached for ended up on the toolbar. You could then easily search for those words in the found text by clicking them. This isn't possible with Firefox (or at least, I haven't found out how to do that yet). As I said, minor annoyance... Are you using the Googlebar? That has a highlighter marker that does what you describe. Gareth

Personally, I use keywords for searches. This allows me to kill the search bar and just go to the url bar and type "g empeg" to search Google for empeg, or "d loquacious" to look up a word in a dictionary. I haven't looked at the Google toolbar for Firefox, but the only thing I can think that I'd like to add that the IE toolbar has is the automatic highlighting, but that's only minor.
I've described the keyword thing on the BBS before. I don't think it should be too hard to search for.

What I think you're talking about was enabled by default on my toolbar. I hate that so I turned it off. Try right-clicking on the toolbar and making sure that "Search Words" is checked. So far I like how fast Firefox is at browsing pages. The thing I don't like is the rigidity of the toolbars. Toolbars in IE are pretty much free to move anywhere you like. It was nice because I could puit the Google bar on the same horizontal space as another toolbar that wasn't taking up the whole width of the screen. I understand that this Google toolbar is just a plugin, but it would be nice to be able to move any of these items around. It just seems very unflexible. There appears to be another feature of the IE toolbar missing that nobody has said. Maybe I'm the only one who uses the Autofill feature, but I love it.

My guess is that you're probably referring to the Googlebar too, while I'm still using the regular searcher on the top right hand side of the screen (next to the URL locator). I'll give that Googlebar a try later on today. It looks exactly like the IE version, so I'm pretty sure it'll be OK.

Looks like, but really isn't. The authors are trying to make it seem like the complete Google bar plus a whole lot of other features, but while some of those are okay, I still miss some of the features and really miss some of the options of the IE version. For one thing, I don't know why they don't have an option to use smaller icons! This is really bugging me. There's all this grey space taken up by icons that don't even fill it. So far I'm not impressed by the customization of the toolbars, like I said earlier. IE can get its toolbars much smaller.

I've been using Qute for ages (it was the standard theme) and would recommend it to everybody:

I like this extension 
if you go to Tools -> Themes on your FF toolbar, then click 'Get More Themes' in the Themes window it will take you to a page with several themes. I like Qute as well.

I eventually saw that and installed a few to try them out. I have Nokia installed at the moment, I think. I've never been a big fan of skins or themes, but if it gets the toolbars smaller, that's fine with me. This one did shrink the Googlebar and that's fine with me.
I have another Firefox question. I'm hoping there's an option for this somewhere: in IE, if you are viewing a page and type Ctrl+N you get a new window which then loads the same page you're viewing. At the moment, Firefox only opens a new window and goes to your home page. Can I change this?

I thought it might be possible with tabs, but I don't like tabs. I'm really starting to like this now. I may give Thunderbird a try. I tried both of these programs a revision or two ago and didn't like them. Now I do. Now I just need to try to get Firefox to work with my keyboard's iTouch software. Thanks again.

4 new IE vunerabilities allowing any code to be run. Oh, one of these works on the "secure" IE included in Windows XP SP2. So much for that being the holy grail of security for Windows users, with exploits before it ships.
