Someone's just reported some skipping during flac playback. Anyone else experiencing this?
I've been running 0.1.3a2 (with JRec) for a couple of weeks now. It is a big improvement over ARM+default Rio client.
A couple of problems I've noticed though:
(1) I still get occasional skipping during MP3 playback over HPNA. This happens fairly infrequently, and is difficult to reproduce on demand. (BTW, All my JRec server stuff is currently running on windoze, and I use ARM to do DHCP and serve up the client's net-bootable file system.)
(2) I was messing around at the client (in jukebox mode), selecting a starting track for Juke mode, switching between Q&P and Juke modes, etc. I saw the regular layout (displayed during playback) get corrupted on the client display. Basically, some garbage pixels and partial bitmaps got left behind and not properly overwritten by new updates to the display. Hitting 'menu' and scrolling the highlight down across the entire display was required to blank a bunch of those partial images of bitmaps erroneously left behind. Then when I exited the menu back to play mode, the screen was refreshed properly. Once again, this is not easily reproduced.
(3) Also not easily reproducible: Sometimes the track names displayed on the client are incorrect, yet the "correct" track plays if you select the mislabelled item from the screen. Example: when selecting a starting point in Jukebox mode, I scrolled to Steve Miller Band -> Abracadabra, and expanded the Abracadabra album title to reveal its tracks. Instead, I saw what looked like a list of
all tracks on the server (across all artists/albums) listed in alpabetical order, and starting somewhere in the 'S's. These tracks did not belong to the album Abracadabra. Yet when I selected the first listed track, the client began playing the first track from Abracadabra. So the right thing began to play, but the selection list was messed up. The playback display did show the correct track info. I've seen this sort of thing before (when selecting tracks in Q&P). This example, however, is the most recent and I recall it most clearly. I'm not sure I can precisely describe what occurred when I saw this sort of mis-display earlier in Q&P mode.
tRio+JRec is still far superior to the default Rio solution, IMHO. Hopefully bug reports like this will enable tRio to improve even further.
