Hi folks,

I'm away from my home (in Brazil) at the moment.

Unfortunately I forgot to bring my adapter, so the battery is rapidly running out.

"No worries", I thought, "I'll be bound to have a charger that meets the spec. somewhere in my (old) home in the UK". I tried a couple of adapters (2 and 3V) but although charging starts initially the battery icon halts during the "fill up" and then vanishes.

"Ah, no worries", I think, "I have a car charger that can do both 5V and is 2 A rated". But again, I connect it (with the player switched off), charging starts and then stops again a second later.

Anyone know why this is? As far as I can tell the Rio adapter I have (bought with the Rio from the USA) simply outputs 5V and is 0.5 A rated.

I have tested the Rio with all 3 adapters (all at least 0.5 A rated) when switched on and off, and I get the same problem. Charging starts for 1 second or so, then shuts off. With the first two adapters I expected this, but not the car adapter which "met the grade".

Anyone know of a 3rd party adapter that definitely works? (and can ideally be bought on the high street)

TIA

Problem solved, after nearly shelling out £40 at a small electronics shop, I noticed that Argos are selling one (listed for MP3 players among other things) for £15 (by Masterplug) and it works.
