Unfortunately the player app also listens on USB. Is there a way to disable USB in the player app?

Hey, I would like to know that too. My current plan was to figure out if there's some command you can send to the player that forces it to quit (similar to the way emptool can restart it). Haven't got around to looking into this yet, though. Let me know if you find something.

There is a command to cause a quit - it's identical to the command on the serial port (the same protocol runs over serial, USB, tcp).

It does..., with the last minus-sign attached...
I also discovered a -i option
what does this one do?

empeg:/empeg/bin# ./player -h
Using non-standard cache size 148 (adjustment 32)
player [options]

Options:
   -u  Enable USB server.
   -i  Ignore emergency persist data.

Kudos!!! to you fvgestel. The displayserver works like a champ to transfer files back. I like this because I get rid of the original file on my hard drive. And for me sometimes I want to get one back for listening or modifying(without having to re-ripp or in some cases download.) Can't thank you you enough.

I don't know how to act with the terminal programm. Can someone please help me? I can connect through serial to my EMPEG. But i can't press 'Q' (well i can, but nothing happens). Can i get a Dummie-Lesson-Of-How-To-Use-A-Terminalprogram-To-Install-The-Displayserver?

Remember that sometimes you have to cycle the power on the Empeg (pull and re-insert the plug) after starting hyperterminal.
